NATIONAL SPATIAL DATA INSFRASTRUCTURES (INDE) GEOPORTAL USABILITY EVALUATION

Resumo: The Brazilian National Spatial Data Infrastructure (INDE), the country's main geospatial data platform, is the focus of this article that evaluates the usability of its geoportal. The INDE, through its portal, provides access to geospatial data and metadata from various public institutions. Usability was assessed through task tests using the Think Aloud methodology and applying the System Usability Scale (SUS) questionnaire through interviews and an online survey. Although the tests showed a significant success rate, participants expressed difficulty performing the tasks, highlighting the map viewer as the most problematic aspect of the portal due to how data is presented. This presentation can be an obstacle for non-specialist users, potentially leading to abandonment in the data acquisition process. The results obtained through remote interviews and questionnaires emphasize the need and feasibility of applying a methodology that considers user opinions in creating effective systems.

A INDE, por meio do seu portal, oferece acesso a dados geoespaciais e metadados de diversas instituições públicas. Para a avaliação de usabilidade, foram realizadas provas de tarefas utilizando a metodologia Think Aloud e aplicação do questionário SUS (System Usability Scale) através de entrevistas e questionário online. Embora os testes tenham demonstrado um índice de sucesso significativo, os participantes expressaram dificuldades na execução das tarefas, destacando o visualizador de mapas como o aspecto mais problemático do portal, devido à forma como os dados são apresentados. Esta apresentação pode ser um obstáculo para usuários não especializados, podendo até levar à desistência no processo de obtenção de dados.
