VULNERABILIDADE SOCIAL DOS SETORES CENSITÁRIOS ÀS MARGENS DO RIO POTI NO MUNICÍPIO DE TERESINA/PIAUÍ

The present study analyzed the social vulnerability of the census tracts on the margins of the Poti River in the municipality of Teresina / Piauí. The methodological procedures that guided the research were: bibliographical and documentary analysis, in situ verification, use of the mesh of the IBGE census tracts (Census 2010), use of statistical techniques (multivariate analysis, factorial analysis and clustering technique) and QGis software (version 2.14.7). The universe of the study concentrated 72 census tracts distributed along the fluvial channel and crossing the urban and rural spaces and all the administrative regions of the city. The data indicate that 29% of the studied sectors present high IVS (21,208 inhabitants), 44% IVS Medium (26,301 inhabitants) and 25% IVS Low (12,203 inhabitants). With regard to the spatialization of social vulnerability, this is more significantly characterized in the sectors located in the Center-North region (left bank of the river), given the demographic, structuring and income profiles, thus denoting scenarios of social contradiction associated.
