Resumo: | The Atlantic Forest biome has historically been affected by fires and/or deforestation, and human activities advance. These human practices modify the natural vegetation and have threatened protected areas, such as Conservation Units, Permanent Protection Areas and Legal Reserves. The present study aimed to analyze the preservation of protected areas, the occurrence of fire outbreaks and land use occupied by human activities in the municipalities of Prado and Porto Seguro, located in the state of BA, which house three National Parks. The analysis was based on the land cover and land use mapping of Mapbiomas project, as well as the presence and density of fire outbreaks from data collected by the National Institute for Space Research between 2012 and 2020, the initial date of the new forest code propagation. The results showed that the municipalities had approximately 60% of their territory occupied by human activities, including occupations in permanent preservation areas, legal reserves and national parks. From 2012 to 2020, 250 fire outbreaks were also counted in Prado and 291 in Porto Seguro. The results show the necessity of the affected areas management and compliance with environmental legislation for preservation. |
