Resumo: The present study has as it’s main objective to make a diagnosis about the school dropout on IFNMG (Federal Institute of the North of Minas Gerais - Advanced Campus of Porteirinha) showing the main reasons of the fenomenal. As the instrument of data collection, a questionnaire has been applied to the students that began to study in the institution in the year of 2018 and them dropout, later. It was identified the following reasons: first, the incompatibility of time between study and work, dislocation difficulties, low family income, Didactics and ignorance of the profession and course. Therefore it can be concluded that such factors have internal and extracurricular coverage, requiring effort for the school to understand the situation in which students are inserted and seek to carry out preventive actions to minimise such causes.

En tant qu’instrument de collecte de données, un questionnaire a été appliqué, appliqué aux étudiants qui sont entrés dans l’établissement en 2018 et s’en sont échappés. Les causes suivantes ont été identifiées: incompatibilité entre les horaires de travail et les études, difficulté à se déplacer, faibles revenus familiaux, didactique et méconnaissance du métier et du cursus. On en conclut que ces facteurs ont une portée interne et extra-scolaire, exigeant l’effort pour que l’école comprenne la conjoncture dans laquelle les élèves sont insérés et cherche à mener des actions préventives pour minimiser ces causes.O presente trabalho objetiva fazer um diagnóstico acerca da evasão escolar no Instituto Federal do Norte de Minas Gerais - Campus Avançado Porteirinha, apontando os principais motivos do fenômeno. Como instrumento de coleta de dados, utilizou-se um questionário, aplicado aos discentes que ingressaram na instituição no ano de 2018 e evadiram-se. Foram identificadas as seguintes causas: incompatibilidade entre horário de trabalho e estudos, dificuldade de deslocamento, baixa renda familiar, didática e desconhecimento da profissão e do curso.
