Resumo: | Natural disasters represent a great challenge for public health and it is important to understand the interaction between these two areas aiming disaster risk reduction, an essential function of public health. Objective: to map conceptual gaps in the interaction of natural disasters and public health. Method: Systematic review of literature; search was carried out in PubMed®, virtual library of biomedical literature, using keywords DeCS/MeSH - Descriptors in Health Sciences: "natural disasters" and "health". Inclusion criteria was presence of both descriptors in the title, abstract or keywords, and exclusion criteria, absence of both words or the single presence of a descriptor word. Through identification, selection, eligibility and inclusion of studies according to the criteria, the studies were organized in a table format and analyzed Results: Six studies were found, of which five met the inclusion criteria and were analyzed. Climatic disasters were the most recurrent in the studies, however, according to official reports, the hydrological causes the largest number of victims. Scientific production in the health area is recent and scarce. Geography could have an important contribution in connecting the two themes. Systematized review of literature is a tool that can point to the need of studies in the theme. |
