SITUATION OF ADOLESCENT PREGNANCY IN THE NORTHERN REGION OF BRAZIL: A SYSTEMATIC REVIEW

This study aimed to highlight the situation of teenage pregnancy in the Northern Region of Brazil through a systematic review, following the guidelines of the PRISMA statement. From a comprehensive search in electronic databases, eight studies published from 2016 to 2023 were retrieved and included. The studies analyzed offered a comprehensive view of the problem, revealing stability in teenage pregnancy rates in Brazil until 2012, followed by fluctuations regional. A higher probability of pregnancy was highlighted in the North Region, especially among adolescents aged 10 to 14. There was a general reduction in live birth rates to teenage mothers at the national level, with socioeconomic disparities impacting less developed regions and poorer classes more heavily. Temporal variations were identified, with the North Region being the most affected with the highest numbers. The persistence of high rates, notably in the North and Northeast regions, contrasted with the national downward trend. The results highlight the urgent need for specific strategies to address this challenge, emphasizing the importance of effective and targeted public policies in the aforementioned region, contributing to a deeper understanding of the dynamics of teenage pregnancy in the Northern Region, providing essential subsidies for the development and implementation of measures aimed at mitigating this complex scenario.
