PRODUTOS TRANSGÊNICOS: PROBLEMAS E INCERTEZAS PARA A SEGURANÇA ALIMENTAR

Resumo O objetivo geral do artigo é analisar o "estado das artesâ€? do debate sobre os produtos transgênicos, destacando as questões mais relevantes que têm preocupado os diversos atores sociais. Depois de um breve histórico do avanço das inovações técnicas na área, com ênfase nas dimensões sociais mais importantes, o autor busca apreender as suas principais implicações da engenharia genética nos diversos campos de atividades da sociedade. Igualmente, discute a regulamentação dos produtos transgênicos no Brasil, destacando o papel da Comissão Técnica Nacional de Biossegurança e a polêmica autorização para o cultivo e a comercialização da soja transgênica no país. Finalmente, o autor apresenta algumas conclusões preliminares com a intenção de estimular novos estudos sobre a referida temática. Abstract The goal of the article is to analyze the "state of the arts" of the debate on the genetically modified products, detaching the most relevant subjects than they have been worrying the several social actors. After a short historical of the progress of the technical innovations in that area, with emphasis in the more important social dimensions, the author looks for to apprehend the main implications of the progress of the genetic engineering in the several fields of activities of the society. Equally, he discusses the regulation of the genetically modified products in Brazil, detaching the role of the National Technical Commission of Biosafety and the controversy authorization for the cultivation and the commercialization of the genetically modified soy in Brazil. Finally, the author presents some preliminary conclusions with the intention of stimulating new studies on referred theme.
