Resumo: This article analyses the occupational transition and time fractions in each state, as well as the influence of the initial occupation on the mobility trajectory. PNADC/T data is used to analyse multi-state life tables and matrices of transition probabilities between occupations of higher or lower socioeconomic status and unemployment/inactivity are calculated, as well as the estimation of probability models. The results show that whites allocate a greater share of their time to higher status occupations. The estimates also show a temporal dependence on the previous occupational situation, highlighting difficulties in making transitions between segments, especially among blacks/browns.
