Resumo: This paper intends to propose a reflexion on the scenic style of Charles Chaplin from his the cinematographic work Modern Times (1936). In it, the actor in its time, exposes the lack of ability of its character Carlitos to the work rythym dictated by the machines in the play. For so, the approach towards the complex creation of the character as tramp and its theatrical characteristics recreated for the play, observing the esthetical language from the genre “commedia dell’arte” facing the challenges of the modern society and the process which unrevealed the Industrial Revolution.
