Resumo: | Among a diversity of existing resources for voltage regulation, in the past, the Saturated Core Reactors (SCR) represented a widespread compensation strategy. Despite the attractiveness of this solution, the fact is that, for decades, other devices with latest functional principles have replaced this philosophy. However, at this moment the demand for products that provide a balance between economic and technical aspects motivates the search for alternatives that reconcile these two requirements. In this context and gathering new resources available in the market, the idea based on saturate reactors may represent in many situations a solution that offers advantages related to economic aspects and operational efficiency. Therefore, focusing on such regulators, this PhD project proposal has the objective of establishing a pre-design methodology for these devices followed by computational modelling and implementation for performance studies, which aims at evaluating the effectiveness of the desired regulation process. In order to establishing means to validate the project proposal and computational modelling, comparative studies between the results obtained by simulations and field tests executed on a full-scale reactor prototype are also performed. Still, in light of the existence of new magnetic materials developed and commercially available, the research includes a comparative investigation between the use of conventional silicon steels and amorphous alloys to design the saturated reactors core. |
