Saúde mental, uso de substâncias e religiosidade dos estudantes do Curso de Graduação em Enfermagem frente a pandemia da COVID-19

Introduction: Psychosocial pressure during a graduation course influences in mental health aspects and students' use of psychoactive substances. Spirituality and religion have proven to be important factors in improving health outcomes. In order to seek support and care mechanisms for students and to avoid the use of substances related to academic stressors, as well as for early detection of students at risk to identify cases of moderate risk use. Objective: the work aimed to determine the prevalence of symptoms of anxiety and depression and the use of psychoactive substances in undergraduate students associating spirituality and religiosity with mental health, alcohol and drug use in these students, in addition to assessing the impact of the pandemic on the life of the academic. Methodology: This is an observational, cross-sectional and descriptive study in which the research was carried out through the application of socio-demographic questionnaires and the application of the P-DUREL, EDAS-21 and ASSIST scales on an online platform and their respective analyses in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. The study was conducted remotely, being filled out online through links found in various dissemination channels. Results: The results found brought favorable outcomes between the relationship of religiosity and spirituality with anxiety, depression, stress and the substance use, acting as factors of protection and coping mechanisms. Conclusion: It was noticeable the increase of stress factors due to the Coronavirus pandemic and the use of substances as escape valves for anxiety, depression and stress. Spirituality was present among the students, being a protective factor, proving the initial theory of the research.
