The present research analysis, with a sociological point of view, the work conditions of the workers from the telemarketing field in the city of Uberlândia, Minas Gerais. In view of the high representativity that this type of work has, in the economical context of the city as well as the whole country, this study provides indicatives concerning the nature and the contemporany structure of this kind of labor. Based on the bibliographical research about works of Sociology of labor from the past and the presente, the general investigation regarding the service sector and the realization of semi-structured interviews with workers from one of the largest telemarketing companies in the town, this study was made. This research also investigates the emergence of telemarketing as productive field in relation to the economic transformations of the capitalismo structure in the 1970’s. Together with the labor organization particularities in this type of activity, in wich combines taylorists and toyotists ways in the control and management of the workers inserted in this field. It also highlights in wich specific ways these models reconfigurate themselves in the brazilian telemarketing sector, seeking, above everything, higher levels of profit and exploration. As a result, the presente study deeply comprehends the combination between “rigid” and “flexible” instruments of the management of this labor in the city, as well as the implications that this occupation has over the workers, the meanings of this activity, and the structures and logics from this type of work. It gives indicatives on how contemporany capitalism in the digital era systematizes the field of labor through new and old instruments of work racionalization and control.
