Não adesão ao tratamento da hipertensão entre usuários do serviço público de saúde

The treatment of hypertension is carried out by drug and non-drug interventions requiring monitoring of lifestyle changes. Adequate patient adherence to treatment is a fundamental factor for efficient results and disease control. Thus, the aim of this study was to identify the rate of non-adherence to drug and non-drug treatment of arterial hypertension. This is a cross sectional, quantitative study carried out with 81 patients from the arterial hypertension outpatient clinic of the Federal University of Uberlândia. Two instruments were used for data collection: 1. assessment of sociodemographic variables, anthropometric data, blood pressure values, and medications and 2. Questionnaire for Adherence to Treatment of Systemic Arterial Hypertension (QATHAS) to assess non-adherence to treatment. 72.8% of patients have high adherence to treatment, stop taking their medication at least once a month, but control their diet significantly. Dyslipidemia was the comorbidity with the highest number of patients in high adherence (74.2%). 95.1% of patients do not practice physical activity. Sociodemographic factors and exercise practice were not associated with treatment adherence. From these results, it can be concluded that most patients showed high adherence to hypertension treatment. It is worth mentioning the importance of identifying the level of adherence to treatment in order to outline health strategies and policies to promote the quality of life of this population.
