Resumo: | Mules, like other equines, are highly valued and have great economic importance in the country, being employed in rural properties for work and other activities for the species, in leisure, sports and even in the pet market. However, there are few studies on these hybrids and because they show phenotypic similarity with their parents (Equus caballus x Equus asinus), they can often be confused with them. Furthermore, the interpretation of laboratory tests as well as the serum biochemical profile of hybrids and donkeys is made by many veterinarians wrongly using reference values for horses. For this reason, the objective is to present specific reference values for mules and breeding conditions in the Triângulo Mineiro, Alto Paranaíba and central-west regions of Goiás, in order to avoid diagnostic errors due to the indiscriminate use of the parameters established for horses. 92 healthy animals were used, divided into 2 age groups (≤ 30 months or > 30 months), from the states of Minas Gerais and Goiás. The collected blood samples had the following laboratory evaluations: Total proteins, Albumin, Globulins, Relation albumin-globulin (A:G), Cholesterol, Triglycerides, Uric Acid, Creatinine, Urea, Phosphorus (P), Calcium (Ca), Calcium-Phosphorus Ratio, Magnesium, Alanine Aminotransferase (ALT), Aspartate Aminotransferase (AST), Phosphatase Alkaline (FAL), Gamma Glutamyltransferase (GGT), Creatinine Kinase (CK). It is expected that with the results found in this work, the differences between horses and mules are clarified, and the values found can be used in clinical medicine correctly to confirm or rule out possible diagnoses, prognoses and treatments for mules. |

As amostras de sangue coletadas tiveram as seguintes avaliações laboratoriais: Proteínas totais, Albumina, Globulinas, Relação albumina-globulina (A:G), Colesterol, Triglicérides, Ácido Úrico, Creatinina, Ureia, Fósforo (P), Cálcio (Ca), Relação cálcio-fósforo, Magnésio, Alanina Aminotransferase (ALT), Aspartato Aminotransferase (AST), Fosfatase Alcalina (FAL), Gama Glutamiltransferase (GGT), Creatinina Quinase (CK).
