Resumo: | The aim of the present study was to histomorphometrically evaluate grafted areas in maxillary sinus lifting for implantodontic purposes. It was proceeded in six adult patients without any systemic disorders, and graftings were consisted by an association of autogenous particulated bone and xenogenous biomaterial (Bonefill®, 1:1). After six months, implants were installed. At this moment, it was removed bone fragments from grafted and control (non-grafted) areas by means of 2mm trephination procedure. Samples were fixed in 10% formalin solution, demineralized in EDTA, and glycol methacrylate (Historesin® - Leica) embedded. Longitudinal histological sections (3pm width) were stained in toluidin blue and studied by means of optical light microscopy. In both groups, trabecular bone of normal aspect was observed to surround small cavities with medullar tissue. The software HLlmage was then employed to quantify the bone matrix. Paired t-test demonstrated a significant statistical difference between grafted and control areas in three out of the six people studied. Two of them presented more bone matrix in the non-grafted areas. However, non-paired analysis (Student t-test) was not able to show statistically significant difference between experimental and control areas when all of the six samples were grouped. Results obtained suggest that the association of autogenous bone and Bonefill® may be useful in maxillary sinus lifting for patients with residual ridge of at least five micrometers pre-operatory width, with satisfactory bone repair. |
