This article is dedicated to reflecting on the prolongation of adolescence, or extended adolescence. For this, we begin with a research on the emergence of the cultural formation of adolescence from the eighteenth century onwards. Then, we briefly investigated adolescence and after that we entered the so-called extended adolescence, which is our research object and is worked on by us, from the point of view of some authors about possible factors that could be related to the prolongation of adolescence from a biopsychosocial perspective, in addition to also bringing some social factors that we consider may be related to this phenomenon: the longevity revolution, the fall of disciplinary societies and the emergence of a violent youth with ample exercise of cruelty.
