Resumo: This monograph aims to analyze how the documentary 'Ônibus 174', released in 2002, represented the subject Sandro do Nascimento. Differently from the representations until then broadcast by the mainstream media, 'Ônibus 174' presented a new bias of the event, shifting the importance of the fact itself to the Subject in question and the previous objective conditions that led him to that context that culminated in one of the most reported crimes in Brazil. The methodology used – Vanoye e Goliot-Lété’s (1994) film analysis – starts from the concept of fragmenting the audiovisual elements present in the production so that it is possible to reinterpret each thematic block of the audiovisual material to observe all aspects in a deeper way. Therefore, the present research aims to problematize the strategies present in audiovisual production, identifying and analyzing in which ways the documentary narrative is used to build the case in question and discuss the new nuances of the subject Sandro do Nascimento from the documentary.

A metodologia empregada, estudada pelos autores Vanoye e Goliot-Lété (1994) – a análise fílmica – parte da concepção de fragmentar os elementos audiovisuais presentes na produção para que, assim, seja possível reinterpretar cada bloco temático do material audiovisual para observar de forma mais aprofundada todos os aspectos.
