Giambattista Vico thought on which method of study was more effective when comparing the method of the ancients with the modern ones. At the same time, the philosopher built criticisms about the Cartesian method of rejecting verisimilitude, considering that the search for rationalism in the school environment would distance the individual from society. It would then be a problem of ethical and moral question. Vico argued that, as important as it is to teach the use of reason, disciplines such as arts, music, oratory, among others, awaken in the individual a sense of community that is important for his entire life. Vico uses several examples throughout his great work "On the Method of Studying Our Time" to demonstrate the value of uniting the two methods. In his inaugural oratory, we have a resurgence of a quarrel between the ancients and the moderns close to the quarrel between Charles Perrault and Nicolas Boileau. And the result of this new quarrel is to arrive at Vico's humanism, which would be the answer to the comparison he made between the two methods.
