This work makes an analysis of Brazil and Russia in the context of the Sports Mega- events. When it comes to the International Relations’ area, sport is rarely put as a possibility of international rise and the achievement of diplomatic interests. However, the sports mega- events has changed this kind of perception, since it have been used a lot for the countries as an instrument of foreign policy, more specifically of soft power. They seek these events aiming for greater prominence on the world stage for a few days in order to present their culture, their country, their power, their people or their identity. If, on the one hand, Brazil seeks to become more assertive in the region, and who may eventually obtain a more prestigious position on the international stage, Russia seeks the restoration of Russia as a world superpower. It is very difficult for the event to instantly put the country on the international stage, but without a doubt it serves to improve the image of the country in front of the world and put it on the route of the main powers.
