The purpose of this paper is to analyze the history of the city of Sacramento and understand how present and influential is religiosity in this region, specifically the festival of adoration of the Reis Magos, the Folia de Reis, an cultural Brazilian celebration. Religious practices are involved in the routine of the sacramental population, it is part of the tradition and regional culture, so it is important to reflect how genuine the faith of this people is and understand how oral tradition and institutional support are essential for the preservation and perpetuation of celebration of Reis Magos in the city. During the research I had the opportunity to rethink tradition not only as a participant, but also as a historian, realizing that there is a reason for the party to be part of the popular culture of the region, the need to value small gestures and testimonies that are rich in history and are primarily responsible for keeping alive the memory and religious identity of these devotees.
