This research was developed from a study of the portrait artists at different times in the history of gender and considering the specific opportunities that the advent of photography created in building the social image of the artists, the objects of study are some of the visual artists portraits published in the newspaper Correio de Uberlândia . The analysis aims to understand how photographic reproductions of the artists presented in this paper can influence the formation or maintenance of certain notions about the profession of visual artists in a local context.
