This work's objective is to analyze the relationship between Brazil and Argentina in the 90's decade, therefore, elements in the matter of security will be exposed to identify the acquired stance by the brazilian foreign policy facing the unfolding events following the end of the Cold War. It is known that the arise of a new international order changed the perceptions of the understandings about security and what is or not a matter of security. Thence, it is the intention of this work to utilize the theoretical framework as proposed by the Copenhagen School, specifically the concept of desecuritization, to recognize elements of this process in the relationship between Brazil and Argentina. It is necessary to comprehend how these perceptions surrounding the security topic were absorbed by the brazilian foreign policy, and consequently identifying the stances assumed by each of the 90's governments, and also, elucidating the brazilian role in the south american region. Finally, to understand the desecuritization between these countries, a construction of the analysis is made to allow the identification of the characteristics of this process.
