“A solidão da América Latina” e a “utopia contrária”: García Márquez, a obra Cem anos de solidão e o projeto de sociedade latino-americana

This research aims to investigate the work One Hundred Years of Solitude and its production context, taking into account the issues related to social inequality and the continuities of the colonial logic, under the bias of North American Imperialism, in contemporary Latin American history. The time frame is highlighted here: the second half of the 20th century. This is the conjuncture in which Gabriel García Márquez's One Hundred Years of Solitude is set, and which encompasses a series of debates about the projects thought for the region and the literature produced here. Such debates are placed in dialogue with other projects of Latin American society, such as the one defended by José Martí; in an anti-imperialist perceptive. Considering literary production as a plural source and constituted as a social practice, the research seeks to invest in the commitment to the unveiling of a project of Latin American society in the scope of the relations between History, Memory, and Literature. Arriving, thus, at the argument that it is possible the construction of a contrary utopia claimed by Gabriel García Márquez in his speech of acceptance of the Nobel Prize for Literature of 1982.
