In this context, this study aimed to investigate the health impacts of rural workers and their families due to the intensive use of pesticides, with the case of family farmers in the municipality of Uberlândia - MG. For this purpose, bibliographic research was carried out pertinent to the theme, collection of secondary data available on poisoning by pesticides in government agencies, consultation on pertinent environmental and sanitary legislation, application of the technical file for survey on the use of chemicals in the rural area, registry of the pesticides used more, the areas that use the most and in which crops, data collection on the number of people who became ill due to the use of the pesticide through the blood test in the rural communities of the region of Terra Branca, Rio das Pedras, Olhos d ' water and Marimbondo, agrarian areas of the Municipality of Uberlândia / MG. The analysis of the material produced indicated that the lack of technical information from farmers on the chemical components present in pesticides and the consequences of the use of these products on human health as well as the lack of training for the proper use of pesticides constitute the central elements of the contamination of families. The blood tests carried out, as well as the survey of the symptoms of diseases point to the occurrence of a process of contamination by slow and continuous pesticides of the workers of the communities investigated.UFU - Universidade Federal de UberlândiaDissertação (Mestrado)A intoxicação de trabalhadores rurais pelo manuseio e aplicação de defensivos agrícolas, sobretudo da agricultura familiar, tem se tornado um dos mais graves problemas de saúde pública no Brasil. Neste contexto, esse estudo objetivou investigar os impactos sobre a saúde dos trabalhadores rurais e seus familiares decorrentes do uso intensivo de agrotóxicos, tendo como estudo de caso os produtores da agricultura familiar do município de Uberlândia - MG. Para tanto, foram realizadas pesquisas bibliográficas pertinentes a temática, coleta de dados secundários disponíveis sobre intoxicação por agrotóxicos em órgãos governamentais, consulta na legislação ambiental e sanitária pertinente, aplicação da ficha técnica para levantamento sobre o uso dos produtos químicos na zona rural, registro dos agrotóxicos mais empregados, as áreas que mais utilizam e em quais cultivos, levantamento de dados sobre a quantidade de pessoas que adoeceram decorrente do uso do agrotóxico através do exame de sangue nas comunidades rurais da região da Terra Branca, Rio das Pedras, Olhos d’água e Marimbondo, áreas agrárias do Município de Uberlândia/MG. A análise do material produzido indicou que a falta de informação técnica dos agricultores sobre os componentes químicos presentes nos agrotóxicos e as consequências do uso desses produtos na saúde humana, bem como a ausência de treinamento para utilização adequada dos defensivos se constituem como elementos centrais da contaminação das famílias.
