Resumo: The objective of this paper is to analyze the dynamics of some the main Brazilian unemployment rates and how they behave on the hypothesis of NAIRU and Hysteresis. The NAIRU hypothesis proposes a non-accelerating rate of unemployment in which the economy converges, i.e., it is stationary, whereas the hysteresis affirms that exogenous effects can persistently change the unemployment level, characterizing the presence of unit root. For our empirical analysis, we used unit root tests and Autoregressive Fractionally Integrated Moving Average (ARFIMA). Our results indicate the presence of hysteresis in all unemployment rates analyzed.

A hipótese de NAIRU propõe uma taxa natural de desemprego não aceleradora de inflação, na qual a economia converge, sendo esta estacionária. Já a Histerese afirma que efeitos exógenos possam alterar persistentemente o patamar do nível de desemprego, caracterizando a presença de raiz unitária. Para a análise empírica das hipóteses utilizamos os testes de raiz unitária, e de modelos Autorregressivos de Integração Fracionária e Média Móvel (ARFIMA).
