Resumo: It's really common the emergence of dermatologic wounds contaminated with bacterias in dogs and cats. Among the bacterias, the most commonly found on this type of wound are the bacterias from the Staphylococcus sp. genus. Thus, the treament of these wounds needs to be with an antibacterial drug. The Croton urucurana Baill, popularly known as Sangra d'água is a plant that has been studied for its antiinflammatory, antioxidant, antibacterial, antifungal, analgesic and antidiarrheal properties. Therefore, this study was developed to verify its antibacterial and healing properties in infected wounds of dogs and cats. In the first phase, an ointment was made with the mother tincture, that was obtained from the inner bark and propylene glycol. This ointment was applied in two animals as a pilot project. In the first animal the wounds were healed in 17 days, and in the second animal the wounds healed completely in 32 days. In the second phase sprays were fabricated in different concentration, one with the redilution of the dry extract in propylene glycol, and the other with the plant's sap and propylene glycol. In the antibiogram, the inner bark's extract and the sap's extract formed a inhibition zones against different bacterias, being that the 200.000 µg/ml concentration formed the biggest inhibition zone. Although, due to the big quantity of the plant used to make this concentration, was chosen the 25.000µg/ml and the 50.000 µg/ml concentrations to fabricate the sprays and for the next antibiograms. Skin wounds' sample were collected from animals attended at Hospital Veterinário da Universidade Federal de Uberlândia, under the owner's concent, and after this, the sample cultivation and isolation was performed, and the antibiogram was done to verify the antibacterial activity of the plant against the bacterias from the sample. According to the results, the best spray was chosen, and it was given to the owner for daily application. The evolution of the treatment was follow up through photographs in both of the phases until the wounds were completely healed. The antibiotic sensitivity test evidenced the plant's antibacterial property, and the treatment of the wounds with the spray demonstrated the plant's healing property.
