Assistência de enfermagem para idosos em internação hospitalar

The illness and hospitalization creates many impacts on the life of old-aged. Thus, standardized nursing care for this public contributes to the reduction of hospitalization time and reduces intercurrences. The process of nursing indicates systematized actions with nursing diagnosis and prescriptions that are fundamental for quality customer service. The main objective in this study was to propose standardization of nursing assistence for the hospitalized elderly people at University Hospital of Uberlândia, Minas Gerais. This is about the retrospective research of documental, descriptive, crosssectional quantitative approach, with a total sample of 92 medical records of the old-aged that were hospitalized in the department of medical clinic, surgical clinic 1, surgical clinic 2 and surgical clinic 3, from November 1, 2016 to January 31, 2017. The data collected were realized through a semi-structured instrument with clinical and epidemiological variables. The analysis of the results was performed by simple, descriptive statistics, tabulated in whole numbers. Regarding the reasons for hospitalization, it was possible to observe that women hospitalized more due to problems related to neoplasias (19,6%), and cardiovascular problems (7.6%), while elderly men were hospitalized, mainly due to problems related to neoplasias (14 ,1%) and cardiovascular problems (12,0%). The main nursing diagnoses were risk of infection (20,6%), altered sleep pattern and risk of constipation (13,7%), unbalanced nutrition lower than body needs (10,3%). Further, the main prescriptions of nursing discovered was drug control (40%); control of the environment (25%); control of nutrition (20%); control of pain, water control and monitoring of vital signs (15%). Listing the main nursing interventions is a starting point to propose standard care for the elderly in hospital admission and, so, to contribute to the improvement of care, shorter hospitalization time, better prognosis, searching to maintain the health and quality of life of the elderly.
