Práticas integrativas e complementares no trabalho de parto: Uma revisão integrativa de literatura.

Introduction: The delivery model has incorporated unnecessary routine obstetric interventions over the years. The Integrative and Complementary Practices (PICS) appeared in this scenario with the objective of contributing positively to the parturition process, enabling professionals in the obstetric area to offer simple and low-cost measures capable of promoting physical and mental well-being for women. Objective: To analyze the available scientific evidence on the use of PICS in labor. Methodology: An integrative literature review was carried out, using scientific studies available in the database of the Virtual Health Library. Ten studies were selected to compose the sample after applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Results: It was identified that PICS are practices that should be encouraged in labor, since they contribute in a positive way to the induction of labor in a more natural way, respecting the physiological. Helps the woman in pain management provided measures of comfort, support, relief of tension and pain and decrease of anxiety and stress. It provides the progression of labor since they are able to activate mechanisms that promote cervical dilation and decide the fetal pole, reducing labor time. They are able to improve the fetal malposition through the use of the rebozo and because they are comforting, tranquilizing measures and that show continuous support to the woman, these techniques provide physical and mental reestablishment in the puerperas. Conclusion: PICS should be valued, inserted and instituted in obstetrical services because they are measures that benefit labor, are low cost and high effectiveness, and allow the active participation of women during the parturition process, providing leadership, and contributing to a more respectful, natural and humanized birth
