In this work, we intend to investigate ways of living and working poor of the backwoods who lived in the valleys of the Araguaia and Tocantins rivers since the mid-nineteenth century, and it was the aim of reconstructing the experiences of these men, women and children who had meanings of resistance, accommodation, transgression and negotiation within the social struggle for life in the backwoods. To achieve this goal will be to undertake the collation and review of the sources from the approach of Social History, which includes ways of life as means of struggle against exploitation and domination. Accordingly, in Chapter One, "from Raised Floor: earth weapons" will investigate the occupation of land in terms of living spaces: from the perspectives of aggregation and the arm, or will be problematic, these terms , the power relations that pass and were pervaded by regional interests in the armed struggles which were articulated to the conditions and situations of occupation of land by poor backwoods. In Chapter Two, "Moral, Custom, food, Economy: Farming and hunting strategies," will seek to understand the meanings of living not only on earth but the earth, seated with feet on the ground and digging with their hands the ground to bury the seeds. Will therefore be scrutinized their daily tasks, their hunting practices and cultivation practices, seeking to understand the interface of custom and change where the Bushmen lived in poor times of normalcy as possible. In Chapter Three, "Practice, Perspectives and Voices of the Poor and on Sertanejos" search will investigate and explain some key aspects of the work for adjustment, ie the work provided comrade, in order to understand the situations oppression of the poor backwoods and at the same time, their maneuvers to cool them.
