This labor presents the result of a historical study which allows reflection of confluence between health and religion within the Santa Casa de Misericordia de Uberlândia from 1933 to 1943. Being one of the only public service spaces, the Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Uberlândia stands out as a reference throughout the region of the Triângulo Mineiro welcoming the many routing from other cities. For this study were selected documents of the time which highlight the routine of the institution in the clinical aspect, as well as the insertion of religion in the everyday life of the same. With the intensification and strength of religious movements supported by the Catholic Church, the Catholic lay groups dedicated to social work and evangelism assistance. In this sense, the study aims to present the results of interference of religiosity and spirituality in the recovery of the sick and the forms and approaches of these groups, as well as their motivations to take over and administer the Santa Casa de Misericórdia in a period of consolidation of the city of Uberlândia.
