Resumo: The COVID-19 pandemic has had profound impacts on the mental health of individuals worldwide, leading to an increase in the number of mental health disorders. In this context, the Federal University of Uberlândia (UFU), in response to the crisis triggered by the pandemic and with the aim of caring for the mental health of its community, launched the project titled “PROTEGER-SE” (PROTECT YOURSELF). This article aims to report on the experiences gained during the university extension involvement in the “PROTEGER-SE” Project. The project offers therapeutic support in the form of counseling to alleviate the emotional suffering caused by the pandemic and protect the mental well-being of the university community. It is an online therapeutic platform designed to provide mental health support, aiming to offer therapeutic listening specifically tailored to the challenges imposed by the pandemic. This experience with “PROTEGER-SE” has provided valuable lessons about resilience, empathy, and the significance of emotional support in times of crisis.

Nesse contexto, a Universidade Federal de Uberlândia (UFU), em resposta à crise desencadeada pela pandemia e com o intuito de cuidar da saúde mental de sua comunidade, lançou o projeto intitulado “PROTEGER-SE”. Este artigo tem como objetivo relatar as experiências vivenciadas durante o envolvimento extensionista no Projeto Proteger-Se. O projeto oferece apoio terapêutico em formato de plantão para amenizar o sofrimento emocional causado pela pandemia e proteger o bem-estar mental da comunidade universitária.
