Desafios da maternidade durante a vida universitária: um estudo com alunas da odontologia

This study aims to outline a profile of dental students who are already or become mothers during the undergraduate course and evaluate the related difficulties. Thus, they were invited to participate and those who agreed signed a free and informed consent term. The sociodemographic data and issues related to pregnancy, breastfeeding, impacts on academic life and the difficulties encountered during the course were collected by means of a questionnaire sent by electronic correspondence to the students. This study included 10 students, with a mean age of 26.8 years, with an average income of 5.5 salaries and with children of 38.9 months of age. Resulting in impacts on academic life in a way that: 30% of the students locked the course and 70% considered it extremely difficult to reconcile their activities. It was concluded that there is a need for a better approach in welcoming these students within the university. Descriptors: pregnancy; Dental students, mothers
