The Cerrado has considerable relevance when talking about the water system, as it is called the "water box of Brazil" or "cradle of waters". This is due to its geographical position, with a higher altitude, contributing relatively to the process of distributing water resources, through the so-called “umbrella” effect, responsible for distributing water to eight hydrographic flows. The humid subsystems of the Cerrado, such as the veredas, highlighted in this study, are of great significance to the environment due to their ability to control the flow of the water table, since it maintains the hydrological balance of the water courses of the other hydrographic basins, including the maintenance of water reserve for the dry period of the year. The exposure to anthropization can, in the long term, extinguish this entire ecosystem, which does not have enough studies to understand it. From this information, the need arises for a brief environmental diagnosis of urban paths in the city of Ituiutaba-MG. The general objective of this research was to elaborate a diagnosis of the anthropic effects found in urban veredas in Ituiutaba. The methodology of this study consisted of carrying out a systematic literature review, planning of field data collection, ecological characterization of the study area, collection of water samples for diagnostic analysis and characterization of the phytogeographic subsystem veredas. The results obtained were the identification of the degree of preservation of the paths and the identification of the type of degradation, which can be classified as degraded, in the process of degradation and preserved. Concluding that the process of urbanization without planning and the municipal legislation collaborate for the picture of increasing degradation observed in the urban paths. The occupation and exploitation of these places, according to national legislation, should be considered as environmental preservation areas, however urban activities favor the accelerated degradation of these elements of the landscape.
