Resumo: This investigation has as central goal to shed light on the impact of the dispute over the Senkaku (Diaoyu) Islands on Japan-China relations. In this sense, first, I carry out a theorical approach about the concept of territory and its role in interstate disputes. From this, I set out to a study of the history of the dispute and its consequences on the framework of Japan-China relations. I conclude that the dispute has spawned strong tensions in the political framework, probably being the biggest source of tension between Tokyo and Peking.
