A inserção da China na economia global e sua Adesão à Organização Mundial do Comércio (OMC)

With the establishment of a national development strategy aimed at removing China from a condition of backwardness and misery of its population, economic reforms were created in order to promote economic growth through flexibilization policies, which had as one of the objectives, attracting foreign investment and increasing participation in international trade. All policies were established by the state, which did not relinquish control of the Chinese economy. With the emergence of globalization and a new international division of labor, the world has become an economically integrated space with pulsating trade between nations. In this scenario, an institution is created with the aim of regulating this trade and solving possible conflicts, the World Trade Organization. Aware of the importance of the Organization, China notifies the former GATT (General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade) of its interest in becoming a member and contracting party to the agreement and with this, a working group was created in 1987. The negotiations lasted 15 years and admission took place at the Ministerial Conference in Doha, Qatar, in 2001. This work aims to analyze this established development strategy and its adhesion to the World Trade Organization (WTO).
