The union of entrepreneurship with female labor is the result of the evolution of economic markets and sociocultural spaces. Because it is such a dynamic conjuncture, but which still has layers that reproduce segregationist practices and behaviors, the female entrepreneurship agenda needs to be constantly pondered. The present study was carried out in order to identify the main motivations, challenges and characteristics of women who embarked on an entrepreneurial journey. The research has a qualitative character of analysis and collected data through questionnaires applied online to women who are part of a group to encourage entrepreneurial activity called Moeda de Troca, created in Uberlândia, Minas Gerais. The data were tabulated and interpreted in light of the theory on the subject. As a result, the study found that most women are over 36 years old and have an undergraduate and graduate level of education. The search for financial independence, job satisfaction and greater flexibility in working hours were some of the main factors that led these women to the profession. In addition, aspects such as prejudice, lack of support from family members and the overload of professional and domestic tasks were mentioned as difficulties that are present in their routines, showing that, despite the fact that the path to female entrepreneurship is currently easier, it is still there are demands and discrimination from society that obscure the entrepreneurial female journey
