Resumo: Space presents itself as the main concept that connects architecture to scenography, which offers a diversity of possible projects. Therefore, this work's central objective is to develop a theoretical basis on scenography to, from this, produce a theatrical scenography project. Thus, based on extensive bibliographical research, the text provides a broad approach to scenography; stablish a connection between scenography and architecture through their common element, space; and develops and defines a list of elements present in a scenographic composition, used as an analysis reference to carry out case studies and, subsequently, used as a project program. The defined scenographic elements guide and determinate the stages of the project process, made for a theatrical adaptation of the children's novel My Sweet Orange Tree (1968), by José Mauro de Vasconcelos.
