Pelas trilhas de Lagoa Serena: a construção do mito da mulher Bandeirante na Obra “A Muralha” e na revista “O Cruzeiro”

The 1950s are undoubtedly a period of intense development for the country. Industrialization, urbanization and the apparent formation of a new policy. The Press and intellectuals are increasingly dedicated to thinking about the nation and building their own ideals for that nation. Amidst all this agitation, the largest city in the country turns four hundred years old and turns to the past to justify its successful present and outline an even grander future, and in the context of the celebrations, one of the most emblematic works of Brazilian literature of the century is produced XX, A Muralha, by Dinah Silveira de Queiroz, a novel that was initially published by the magazine with the highest circulation of the period and later by one of the most respected literary stamps in the country. The plot of the work is precisely about the capital of São Paulo and the Bandeirante odyssey, with female protagonists. Taking all this into consideration, we propose in this work to discuss the creation of a national ideal in the aforementioned work and in its dissemination vehicles, the publisher José Olympio and the magazine “O Cruzeiro”, while we will seek to analyze the multiple representations of the feminine present in the novel “A Muralha”, thinking about how it presented itself as instruments of dissemination of certain discourses about the Brazilian historical construction and about possible paths that the nation should follow to reach the desired progress.
