The theory of implicit attitudes contributes strongly to the understanding of gender inequalities in areas of science and has been in constant development in recent decades. The research topics are diverse and the research object is complex, with a wide literature of research carried out in different contexts and cultures. Among the research tools used, the Implicit Association Test (IAT) is the most popular, however, due to the need to obtain more complex results, the Implicit Relationship Assessment Procedure (IRAP) has been gaining popularity as an alternative. The present study was carried out with the aim to gather the existing evidence about implicit attitudes of gender and science and perform a comparison between studies that use both the IAT and the IRAP. Through a systematic review of the published literature in the last 20 years, it was possible to identify similarities and differences between the evidences presented by the measure instruments, to build a synthesis of evidence about gender and science attitudes and to identify important factors that might contribute to increase the participation of women in Science.
