Resumo: The Classificação Internacional de Atenção Primária (CIAP-2) is an international code originally elaborated by the World Health Organization, (International Classification of Primary Care - ICPC-2) and it is widely used in the context of primary health care by doctors and professionals who work in the area of General Medicine. We believe it could be a tool for translations of texts in specialized languages. So, this study aims to analyse the ICPC-2, and of its translation into Brazilian Portuguese, the CIAP-2. For this, we did a comparative study of the first classification category (Category A - General and specific symptoms) in both languages, in which we observed degrees of equivalence according to the concepts of equivalence proposed by Felber (1987). We also analyzed issues related to normalization/padronization on the translation. We observed a high degree of total equivalence (A = B) between terms, thus concluding that CIAP-2 can be considered a useful tool for translations.

Tendo isso em mente, acreditamos se tratar de uma potencial ferramenta para auxílio de traduções de textos médicos. Logo, este trabalho tem como objetivo realizar uma análise da ICPC-2 e de sua tradução para o português brasileiro, CIAP-2. Para isso, foi feito um estudo comparado da primeira categoria da classificação (Categoria A - Sintomas gerais e não-específicos) nas duas línguas, no qual observamos os graus de equivalência de acordo com os conceitos de Felber (1987). Também observamos questões relacionadas à normalização/padronição na tradução da classificação.
