A extensão universitária no processo formativo do acadêmico de Enfermagem: revisão integrativa

INTRODUCTION: Due to the experiences that provoke exchanges and relationships in a social reality, university extension is an integral part of the academic training process, considered a space for critical reflection to reconsider academic actions in the face of social demands and the formation of professionals who are protagonists of transformations. OBJECTIVES: Highlight and discuss the importance of student training from the perspective of university extension, as well as their contributions to the training of nurses from scientific publications on nursing and health. METHODOLOGY: It is an integrative literature review, as well as the PICO method, through the LILACS and MEDLINE databases, using the Health Sciences Descriptors (DeCS): nursing, extension, universities. As an inclusion criterion for the selection of scientific publications, articles published in the last 5 years (2015-2020) were used; Complete text; described in Portuguese and English; original and free articles. RESULTS: After applying the inclusion criteria, 12 articles were selected, where the largest years of publications were 2015 and 2019, predominantly the LILACS database. The publications bring the relevance of the extension project to the lives of students, where it has been a successful model that allows the interaction of new spaces and the development of new skills of learning to learn, demonstrating more and more the relevance in communities. They also demonstrate that university extension is indispensable for the training of students, as it adds knowledge that will be important in the near future. Taking into account the scarcity of scientific publications on this topic, it shows the importance of coordinating courses in the health areas to focus on making more vacancies available to meet the maximum number of students interested in being part of an extension project. CONCLUSION: The university extension project is an important agent for the individual and collective process during academic formation, not being limited to the traditional one and contributing to a more humane and generalist formation, involving the processes of decisions and changes in the student's life.
