Enfrentamento da pandemia da COVID-19 e seus Dados no Brasil, Minas Gerais, Uberlândia e no Hospital de Clínicas da Universidade Federal de Uberlândia

Since the beginning of 2020, the world has been facing a pandemic caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus, a pandemic that has already accumulated more than 120 million cases and more than 2.6 million deaths worldwide, until the completion date on this work. In this context, this work was elaborated with the objective of reporting the situation faced in Brazil, in the state of Minas Gerais and focusing on the city of Uberlândia, in addition to reporting how the Hospital de Clínicas de Uberlândia (HC-UFU) was restructured to face the coronavirus. For the preparation of this study, information was collected from 38 articles referring to the new coronavirus, information available from the Ministry of Health, State and Municipal Health Secretariats, DATASUS, between others, in addition to a survey carried out with the Bioengineering and Statistics sectors of the HC -UFU, for internal hospital data collection. The results of this work showed that until 03/18/2021, Brazil had accumulated a total of 11,693,838 cases and 284,775 deaths and the city of Uberlândia had accumulated a total of 76,458 cases and 1,483 deaths from COVID-19. To deal with the pandemic, the state adopted the Minas Consciente program with several measures to restrict the population and Uberlândia adopted its own Municipal Plan different from the state. The HC-UFU created a committee to face the pandemic that helped restructure the hospital, making the necessary changes to care for patients with coronavirus disease. It was concluded that the creation of a committee to face the pandemic was important so that it was possible to deal with all the changes caused by the virus. It was also seen that due to the lack of a quality public policy to contain the virus, the relaxation of sanitary measures, the slowness of the vaccination campaign and the failure to carry out a correctly performed lockdown, the country, state and city of Uberlândia are undergoing the second wave of the pandemic with a significant increase in the number of cases and deaths since the beginning of 2021.
