The objective of This work is to analyze the trajectory of the carcerages in the municipality of Araguari and also to reflect on the reasons that lead people who fulfill the deprivation of liberty, to repeat criminal acts when they return to "social coexistence". To this end, the role of violence in the history of mankind will be reported, the old ways of punishing and the implementation of the private penalty of freedom, So we will report the results of the researches conducted in the Municipal Public Archive that aimed to identify how Was the beginning of the prison system in the city. It Is noteworthy that in this sense there will be a relationship with the emergence of prisons in the modern era. In relation to the high rate of recurrence in the current Brazilian prison system we will check whether in prison establishments there is a double form of punishment, as in addition to applying the penalty of deprivation of liberty, a very environment is created Unfavorable to the recovery of prisoners, since, in most cases, the graduates of the system leave unprepared for the return to life in freedom. So the proposal is to work on the following question: Do the prison establishments contribute, in a way, so that the people who do so Will return to society with great inclination to commit another and other offenses? And If life in prison is as bad as it is preached, why are the graduates of the correctional system not afraid to return to this system? In This way it is important to describe how the fulfillment of the sentences is developed, in this sense will be transmitted the reality of the prison routine in the Presidium of Araguari. Each Prison unit brings its specificities, but within a set, a unit is simply the mirror of the system to which it belongs. In This way, discussing the Presidium of Araguari is a way of commenting on the Minas Gerais prison system and consequently the Brazilian one.
