Welding is one of the most used fabrication processes, and the MIG/MAG welding is one of the most favourite welding methods due to its characteristics as high productivity and easy in handling by the welders. So, the data about the process is very important for the specialists working in this area, but they have to be very careful, because, some information found in the technical literature is not truthful. This work evaluates whether some information found on manuals and technical books about this subject is correct. Some experiments were carried out in order to collect data about the influence of the electrode wire gauge on the fusion rate in the MIG/MAG process and compare the obtained results with those found in on public record. It was verified that, despite that there is a lot of correct data, there are some data which is partially wrong, or, at least some data is rather divergent from other. Also, there is lack of information on many factors that influence the process, what makes it difficult to be discussed. From these results, it is possible to conclude that some technical data found in the literature about MIG/MAG welding, namely the influence of the electrode wire gauge on the fusion rate are not always reliable.
