Resumo: This article aims, from the analysis of some primary sources, written between I BC and X AD, to discuss which sources can contribute to the construction of a negative image about the figure of Cleopatra VII. In addition, it seeks to reflect on how Cleopatra VII was created as a negative figure and to point out which motives and characteristics of the Egyptian ruler were used in these sources to reaffirm her villainy. Within the teaching of History, we seek to understand which narrative about Cleopatra is perpetuated through curricular bases, textbooks and manuals for teachers; in addition, we seek to understand what space Ancient History has in the teaching of History in Brazil.
