Objective: This study was aimed to find evidence of the synergistic action of non-invasive ultrasound associated with the liposuction procedure, whether in wet, superhumid or dry techniques. Method: a bibliographic survey was conducted between about the period from 1997 to 2019, in the Portuguese and English languages, in PubMed and GoogleScholar databases. Results: Several studies have shown increased efficacy in fat removal and contraction of the skin, with a greater facility of the surgeon handling the cannula for fat removal and has shown to be able to cause a decrease in hematoma, swelling and post-surgical discomfort. Above all, it is important to note also that in none of the studies did any of the acute, long-term, local or systemic metabolic adverse effects, including changes in serum lipids, occur. What makes its practices safe. Conclusion: Non-invasive ultrasound, applied in conjunction with liposuction, assists in the occurrence of a smaller amount of bleeding in the aspirated contents, as well as in tissue softening, with less resistance to the cannula and a reduced surgery time, obtaining larger amounts of fat aspirated.
