Swine has a major importance in Brazilian economy, more than 52 million swines were slaughtered in 2021. In order to guarantee meat safety and quality it is essential the inspection of every carcass, which is an obligation in Brazil. These carcasses might be partially or totally condemned if they aren’t in conformity with the quality standards by our federal legislation. One of the various reasons a carcass could be condemned is the damage caused by a flea named Tunga penetrans. The main goal of this work is to evaluate the occurrence rate of convictions caused by lesions from its presence in swine carcass slaughtered at a slaughterhouse in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil. A cross sectional study was carried out based on data provided by the Municipal Inspection Service of Uberlandia, about the number of animals slaughtered, their origin, day in which it was realized and number of condemnations (total and partial) of swine carcass between January 2019 and December 2021. These data were used to calculate the Adjusted Occurrence Index and the Seasonal Index of convictions during the period evaluated. August 2021 had the highest COI. Months of the second semester had a higher ISA in comparison with the first semester. January had lower injuries than expected, and September had an increase number of occurrences than the number which was anticipated.
