The present work presents the evaluation of the dimensioning of a real coverage constructed with plump wood from reforestation. The choice of the theme and object of study was based on the fact that an expressive portion of the roofing structures in the country that employ wood as the main constructive component, are not conceived by means of adequate dimensions. The conception of these buildings using empirical methods, induces the use of oversized or inadequate parts, with properties of distinct resistances and non-ideal architectural configurations. These facts were observed after the analysis of the reference coverage, proving that it was not designed according to normative recommendations. In addition to evaluating this building, there are proposals for constructive systems that could have been employed based on the original architectural aspects of this, changing only the characteristics of the form, species, type of material and Wooden parts arrangements. The constructive systems exposed for comparative purposes employ from timber trellis of eucalyptus and tropical lumber to beams composed of wood veneers. The proper dimensioning and structural design have led to a reduction in wood consumption of around 9,33%, compared to the most efficient system - trellis Howe of eucalyptus, with the original arrangement of the parts of the reference building. The other constructive systems considered advantageous, based on aspects of consumption, costs and own weight of the structures, understood the use of the types of elements and structural materials in the following order: Trellises Howe + Fink of Eucalyptus Cloeziana, Boomerang beams of glued-laminated timber and, lastly, Howe + Fink and Howe trusses of sawn wood.
