Resumo: | Functional capacity is the ability to perform activities independently, mobility being the main indicator of quality of life. The majority of people who survive a cerebrovascular accident (CVA) are left with motor sequelae and speech difficulties. To recover some of this damage, they undergo long and repetitive rehabilitation periods. Studies show that Serious Games (SG) in virtual and/or augmented reality (VR/VA) environments are a beneficial approach for this type of treatment, since, by transforming sensory information into virtual avatar controls, patients perform the repetitive activities in a relaxed and pleasurable way, increasing the commitment to training. With greater dedication, patients show faster and more effective improvements in motor functions. Thus, this study sought to carry out a systematic review on the use of serious games in VR/VA environments for the rehabilitation of patients with stroke. Google Scholar, SciELO, Embase, Lilacs and PubMed/MEDLINE databases were used, with the descriptors “AVC”, “virtual reality”, “augmented reality” and “serious games” in Portuguese and English. The search was refined using inclusion and exclusion criteria and reached a total of 10 studies. Among the inclusion criteria, articles that performed experimental tests with volunteers and developed in the last 10 years were selected. The conclusion of this study reveals that there are benefits of using JS in VR/VA environments in the rehabilitation process of people affected by stroke. |
