This work has as its object the Florestan Fernandes National School (Escola Nacional Florestan Fernandes, ENFF) as a locus of political-ideological training of rural workers organized in the Landless Rural Workers Movement (Movimento dos Trabalhadores Rurais Sem Terra, MST). ENFF is an MST enterprise in response to its training necessity to self-organize and train itself in view of the conquest of its struggle flags. Our research, therefore, aims to analyze the process of creating the ENFF, its motivations and its purposes.This study was guided by the following issue: what were the historical determinations that motivated the Landless Rural Workers Movement to create a political-ideological training school? Our study focused on documentary research, which the sources were the documents prepared by the Movement itself on the subject of education, entitled Notebook n°8 “Principles of education in the MST” and Notebook n° 29 “Campaign for the construction of the national school of the MST”. We also resorted to bibliographic research that enabled us to carry out the compared analyses, through the specialized literature of theoretical references, to question and understand the educational thought of the MST and its proposals. Our research allowed us to conclude that the MST, historically, took on the political and formative characteristics of the political party, in the Gramscian conception, namely, organizing, directing and educating its militants according to its own worldview suited to its political purposes. The ENFF, therefore, can be considered the materialization of the educational efforts of the MST and the proof that the Movement was constituted as a collective intellectual, as it offers a political-ideological formation for the Landless rural workers that is organized around themselves.
